Bystanders Can Be Lifesavers
At the 2025 NFWI Annual Meeting on 4th June, WI members voted in favour of the Bystanders Can Be Lifesavers resolution.
This resolution calls on WI members to work together to increase public confidence and training in the delivery of CPR and to collaborate with local organisations to improve access to defibrillators in their communities.
There are over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests a year in the UK, and less than one in ten people survive. Women have a lower chance of surviving than men so awareness of this crucial procedure is vital.
The West Chiltington WI is organising a training session to educate members on the use of CPR and and will be encouraging them to step forward in an emergency.

Dental Health Matters
The 2024 WI Resolution recognised that there is a chronic shortage of NHS Dentists in England and Wales and people are suffering health issues as a result.
The NFWI called on the Government to increase investment in the training and retention of dentists and to review the current inadequate NHS contracts in order to ensure everyone can access an NHS dentist wherever they live.

Members combined their commitment to the Dental Health Matters campaign with the WI’s love of crafting and members were asked to create toiletry bags for dental care essentials like toothpaste and toothbrushes that will be distributed to local charities.
