Project Linus
After an inspirational talk by Sylvia Fisher, the retiring South-East Co-Ordinator for the charity, Project Linus UK, to our group in May 2023, members were motivated to form a quilting workshop under the tutilage and guidance of another of our members, an accomplished quilter and craftswoman herself. Complete novices interested in learning a new skill, keen crafters and talented quilters all signed up to produce items for this worthy charity.
"Project Linus UK provides love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children, who are sick, disabled, disadvantaged or distressed by donating gifts of new, homemade, washable quilts and blankets, lovingly made by volunteer knitters and quilters".
The work goes on.....
Over the past year, working together in educational workshops and individually at home, members continue to produce further quilts which are regularly donated to the charity.
Spurred on by the success of the quilting workshop a "knit and natter" group was set up, which has proved to be equally successful, and provides a forum for all types of knitting, crocheting and embroidery projects in a sociable environment with a cuppa and a natter thrown in.
