Safe in Sussex
For the last few years our fund raising and charity work has also been directed towards “Safe in Sussex" a women’s refuge providing help and support for people affected by domestic abuse in West Sussex.
We have provided them with Christmas gifts of perfume and other beauty products, colouring books, crayons, pencils and canvasses.
To support their 6th Annual Shocking Shirts and Funky Frocks appeal we held an afternoon tea on National Cream Tea Day which was well attended and we were able to send another generous donation to this worthy charity.
The Wholesome Warehouse
As part of our Harvest Lunch celebration in September 2023 the members donated food and toiletries to The Wholesome Warehouse in Storrington.
Lucinda Croft, Founder of the Charity, returned in May 2024 to give a heartfelt talk to our members outlining the back story to how the charity was started and their day to day work. TWW give away an average of 240 meals per week (960 meals a month) and food support to 226 people per year.
In addition they also supply furniture to those who find themselves with nothing and need help to get back on their feet as well as ongoing support, friendship and hospitality.
This is a voluntary organisation seeking to help vulnerable families and individuals, including women escaping domestic violence, refugees, and those affected by homelessness.
